Peace in the Storms

In the midst of growing unrest and fear in Guayaquil and Durán, God’s light continues to shine. Despite the rise in gang activity and the tension many families face daily, five churches in these cities recently experienced a moment of hope and joy. Through the generous support of sponsors and the faithful service of local pastors, school supplies and uniforms were distributed to children in need. For many families, these items are more than just materials—they represent opportunity, dignity, and the reassurance that they are not forgotten. Pastors and volunteers risked their safety to ensure each child received what they needed for school, serving as true reflections of God’s love and courage. We thank God that the government has recently increased security efforts, and some areas are beginning to feel more peaceful. Still, we ask our sponsors to please continue praying for the protection of the pastors, church leaders, members, and especially the children. Your prayers are powerful and deeply needed. Even in difficult times, God is at work—building His kingdom through the hands and hearts of His people. Thank you for standing with us and believing that light can still shine in the darkest places.

Pushing Through the Waters

The second quarter of 2025 has started off rough for our Iquitos pastors and their church members. Rising river levels have forced children and youth to walk through several feet of water or travel by small boats to get around. Due to intense rain and flooding, there has also been an increase in mosquitoes, raising the risk of dengue, colds, and fevers. Many Iquitos pastors and their families had to evacuate their homes, and even the churches had to be cleared out. One pastor feared they would need to cancel Sunday school, but through God’s conviction and protection, classes were still held—this time in a small area outside the church. Despite the difficult conditions, the children remained joyful as they gathered to worship our God. Though circumstances are extreme—homes abandoned and churches emptied—the church remained. 1 Corinthians 12:27 says, “You are the body of Christ. Each one of you is a part of it.” Even though physical buildings were flooded or deserted, the body of Christ stood firm. The children, teachers, and pastors continued to gather, worship, and seek the Lord with all their hearts. They receive little to no government support, and they lack supplies and medicine—but their protection comes from the Lord. Psalm 46:2-3 says, “Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.” Please pray for the Lord to place His divine protection over these resilient pastors, leaders, children, and their families. May they be strengthened and encouraged by the Holy Spirit. Pray also for the provision of medicine and supplies to guard against dengue, mosquitoes, colds, and fever.

For Our God, Nothing Is Impossible

Imagine being told that your little boy has cancer. How would you react as a father or mother? This was the reality for a young boy named Job from one of our churches in Huancayo. In September of last year, Job was diagnosed with cancer after doctors discovered a tumor in one of his legs. From that moment, he began a long journey of chemotherapy that lasted over a year. But by faith, through prayer, and by God’s love and grace—Job is now cancer-free! Praise the Lord! Although doctors still express concern that the cancer might return, let us continue to pray for Job and his family—that they would be strengthened and remain steadfast in their trust in the Lord Jesus. He is our Healer, who reigns above all sickness and has conquered death. Let us also pray that Job’s testimony would inspire and reach countless families across Peru and throughout South America—especially those facing similar battles.

Narrow and Rough Road

If you travel about 3 hours from our COJ orphanage in Chintaluru you reach a small village called Konolova. You need to take village bus for about an hour and you have to hike up a tough mountain path for about 2 hours. It’s a village of about 150 people who has never heard the gospel of Jesus Christ. Pastor Satish felt the call of God in 2020 and he entered the bible school. He has no place to live so him and his 3 family lives in a small room of the bible college. But his heart is filled with compassion for the village people to be saved by the grace of the cross. Now there are about 15 believers gather to worship our God. But pastor Satish prays for the rest of the village to be saved. So he travels to Konolova three times a week. Today he sweats so much climbing the narrow and rough path to Konolova. If he only had one motorcycle his travel would be so much easier. But he doesn’t even have money for a bicycle. And yet he is full of joy and thanksgiving that he can still walk and preach!

Children of Jesus- Peru- Bringing Hope

Thanks to the generosity of sponsors like you, children across Peru are starting their school year with the supplies they need to succeed! Many families face financial hardships, making it difficult to afford even the most basic materials. But through your support, these children have received essential items such as binders, pens, pencils, crayons, and markers—tools that will help them learn, grow, and pursue a brighter future. We ask for your continued prayers as these children begin their new school year. Pray that they may excel in their studies, form meaningful friendships, and most importantly, be a testimony of God’s love to their classmates and teachers. May they have the courage to share their faith, live as examples of Christ’s love, and impact their schools with the Good News. Thank you for being a part of this mission. Your support is making a lasting difference in the lives of these children, their families, and their communities.

Guayaquil, Ecuador-Violence Torn City!

Our God called us to the city of Guayaquil in Ecuador 10 years ago. There were so many needy children. Lord opened up the doors for us to embrace and support small number of children with the love of God. And in recent years, we were excited to share how our God has enabled us to reach more children. But the enemy would always show up where our God is working. The drug cartel has invaded the region and we are witnessing horrendous crimes being committed to the peaceful citizens. People are dying from shootouts between gang groups. Many are forced to move out of their homes as gang group is taking over the properties. Recently one family who owned a small store was told by gangers to pay up $20,000. For poor Ecuadorian, that’s a incredibly a lot of money. When the family couldn’t pay the amount, they killed the father on the spot. Please lift Guayaquil and all the people, especially the innocent children, to our God for His protection and help!

From Receiver to Giver

Pastor Juan Carlos Samaniego’s story is a powerful testimony of God’s redemption and faithfulness. Born into a broken home, his early years could have been marked by hardship and instability. However, at just two years old, his life took a miraculous turn—his parents accepted Christ, setting the foundation for a home built on faith and God’s Word. Growing up, Pastor Juan Carlos was deeply influenced by his parents’ teachings, learning to love and trust in God. At the age of 14, he took a bold step in his faith, choosing to be baptized. From that moment on, his passion for seeing others experience the same hope and joy that Jesus offers only grew stronger. He eagerly served in church leadership and the youth ministry, dedicating himself to helping others encounter the love of Christ. At 26, God placed a higher calling on his heart—to step into full-time ministry. Now, in 2025, that same heart for service has moved him once again, this time to extend his love and support inspite of his own struggle and difficulties. Pastor Juan Carlos has decided to sponsor another child in Ecuador, continuing his mission of transforming lives. But what makes this moment even more special is that he is also the first Peru pastor to sponsor a child in Ecuador. Over the last few years, many more Peruvians have started to support children in Ecuador- a tremendous outpouring of God’s work in Peru. This act of generosity is more than just financial support—it is a testament to how God changes lives and calls His people to be a blessing to others. Pastor Juan Carlos’ journey from a broken home to becoming a leader and sponsor is a beautiful reflection of God’s ability to restore, heal, and use His people for His glory. May their story inspire us all to open our hearts, follow God’s calling, and be a source of hope for those in need. Just as God transformed their lives, He can use each of us to make a lasting impact in the lives of these children.

Come and Help India

In a July 2025, 20 dedicated Bible students in India will complete their studies and embark on a mission to bring the Gospel to remote villages and tribal areas. These young men and women have spent years preparing, studying God’s Word, and developing the heart of a servant. Now, they are ready to be sent out, carrying the light of Christ to those who have never heard His name. Pastor Abraham prays for God’s provision, asking for essential tools to aid their ministry—bikes to reach distant villages, microphones and speakers to amplify the message, and drums to draw people together in worship. These simple yet powerful resources will help spread the Gospel to a nation in desperate need of hope and salvation. As these students step into their calling, they rely on faith and the support of the global church. Their mission is not just about words but about demonstrating the love and power of Jesus Christ in places where darkness still lingers. May we join in prayer and support, believing that God will provide every need and use these 20 students to transform lives and bring revival to India’s most remote regions.

Giving Life to Least of These!

Thanks to your generous support, the Hanhee Kim World Mission Center has made a significant impact in the poorest regions of India, Ecuador, and Peru, reaching over 800 children and pastors in 2024. Your contributions have provided essential resources such as education, food, and pastoral care. For some of you, the envelope includes new sponsorship cards to continue supporting children and pastors who are more in need. As God continues to use this ministry to bless many, we are seeking more sponsors to help us reach even more people. Specifically, there are children in Ecuador who need your care and pastors in India who require support to continue their work. We invite you to prayerfully consider how you can help expand God’s kingdom and support those in need. If you feel led to sponsor or learn more, please visit coj.org. Together, we can continue making a difference and sharing the love of Christ with those who need it most.

Expansion of God’s kingdom!

Pastor Daniel moved to the village of PK Gudem 5 years ago as he heard the voice of God during his prayer time. He preached the gospel with all of his heart and passion. And the village people started to give their lives to Jesus for the first time. But they were without house of worship. So they worshipped our God in the empty field. As our God heard their prayers, Lord moved the hearts of sponsors to give generously to build the house of worship for these new believers of PK Gudem and now the building project is almost finished. This church will become a beacon of hope and countless lives will be transformed and drawn closer to Christ. Thank you sponsors for your obedience to the voice of God.
